Emma Kearney

Emma is a Senior Associate at Bell Criminal Lawyers and one of a handful of Accredited Criminal Law Specialists in Queensland, having earned the Highest Achiever Award upon attaining her accreditation in 2024. In 2025, she was also recognised by Doyle’s Guide as a Rising Star in the profession.

Since joining the profession in February 2019, Emma has developed a well-rounded skillset when it comes to matters of criminal law, domestic violence, traffic matters, peace and good behaviour applications and compulsory hearings. Emma especially enjoys reviewing briefs of evidence, where she methodically works through the material before providing her clients with advice as to the most tactical way to proceed. With a particular interest in solicitor advocate work, Emma regularly runs legal arguments on her clients’ behalf and cross-examines witnesses at both committal hearings and summary trials. She has experience appearing on bail applications and sentences in the higher courts, as well as assisting counsel to prepare matters for District and Supreme Court trials.
